Not an actual Dyson product. Not as pictured.
My pre-filter assembly for a DC18 upright was damaged. While browsing Amazon for a replacement part I stumbled upon this. Judging by the photo, you would expect that the product you would receive would be a legitimate Dyson filter + plastic prefilter assembly. What you do receive is a generic "compatible" filter and no plastic assembly.
Would not buy again !
These filters are not well made. The filter membrane side has smudge from the siding rubber like material, creating blockage when filtering. To insert to filter to the filter slot, I had to use extra force to try to push it in place. Overall it is much lower quality than the original filter from the manufacture. I would not buy again.
Dyson DC18 Filter (DYR-1814)...
The product arrived when promised, however, it does not match its advertized "Dyson DC18 Filter (DYR-1814)" photograph. The one that arrived is an aftermarket (non-genuine) Dyson product. It is charcoal colored with an active additive to help neutralize odors. It seemed to fit a bit more snug than the original and doesn't seem to degrade performance (as far as I can tell). During the first few uses, I noted a different odor, but nothing obnoxious...and it lessened with each additional use. Sans appropriate markings, I'm uncertain if this is a washable filter like the original. Would I do it again: yes. FWIW.
